1. Acceptance of Terms
By downloading, installing, or using the Better Legacy mobile application or website ("Service"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service ("Terms"). If you do not agree to these Terms, please do not use the Service. The Service is operated by Luma Software ("we," "us," or "our"), based in Helsinki, Finland.
2. Description of Service
Better Legacy is an end-of-life planning platform that provides tools including last wishes documentation, online account management, memory preservation, life list tracking, AI-powered chat, family collaboration features, and document storage. Some features are available free of charge. Premium features require a paid subscription.
3. Eligibility
You must be at least 13 years of age to use the Service. By using the Service, you represent that you meet this requirement. If you are under 18, you confirm that you have parental or guardian consent.
4. Account Registration
To access certain features, you must create an account. You agree to: • Provide accurate and complete information when registering • Keep your account credentials confidential • Notify us immediately of any unauthorised use of your account • Be responsible for all activity that occurs under your account We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms.
5. Subscriptions and Payments
Better Legacy offers a Premium subscription that unlocks additional features. Subscriptions are billed on a recurring basis (monthly or annually) through the Apple App Store, Google Play Store, or our web billing provider. • Subscriptions automatically renew unless cancelled at least 24 hours before the end of the current billing period • You can manage and cancel your subscription through your App Store, Google Play, or account settings • We do not offer refunds for partially used subscription periods, except where required by applicable law • Prices may change with advance notice
6. User Content
You retain ownership of all content you create within the Service, including last wishes, memories, letters, life lists, and other personal content ("User Content"). By using the Service, you grant us a limited, non-exclusive licence to store, process, and display your User Content solely for the purpose of providing the Service to you. You are responsible for ensuring your User Content does not violate any applicable laws or third-party rights. We do not claim ownership of your personal content.
7. Acceptable Use
You agree not to use the Service to: • Violate any applicable laws or regulations • Upload harmful, abusive, or illegal content • Attempt to gain unauthorised access to our systems • Reverse engineer or copy any part of the Service • Use the Service for any commercial purpose without our written consent • Harass, threaten, or harm other users
8. AI Features
The Service includes AI-powered chat and content generation features. These features are intended for planning assistance and emotional support only and do not constitute professional medical, psychological, legal, or financial advice. AI responses may not always be accurate and should not be relied upon as a substitute for professional guidance, particularly for legal matters such as wills and estate planning.
9. Family and Sharing Features
The Family feature allows you to share content with family members. Content shared within a family group may be visible to all members you have added. The "Shared With Me" feature allows you to designate items to be shared with family members either immediately or after your passing, subject to death confirmation settings you configure. We are not responsible for disputes between family members arising from shared content.
10. Intellectual Property
All rights, title, and interest in the Service — including the app design, software, logos, and branding — are owned by Luma Software. Nothing in these Terms grants you any right to use our intellectual property other than as needed to use the Service.
11. Disclaimers
The Service is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, express or implied. We do not warrant that the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or free of viruses or other harmful components. Better Legacy is a planning and support tool and does not constitute legal, financial, medical, or psychological advice. Always consult a qualified professional for such matters.
12. Limitation of Liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, Luma Software shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from your use of the Service. Our total liability for any claim arising from these Terms or the Service shall not exceed the amount you paid us in the 12 months preceding the claim.
13. Termination
You may stop using the Service and delete your account at any time via Profile → Delete Account. Upon deletion, your data is permanently removed. We may suspend or terminate your access to the Service at any time for violation of these Terms, without prior notice.
14. Governing Law
These Terms are governed by the laws of Finland. Any disputes shall be resolved in the courts of Helsinki, Finland, unless otherwise required by applicable consumer protection law in your country of residence.
15. Changes to These Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. We will notify you of material changes by updating the "Last updated" date. Continued use of the Service after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.
